I remember Bob driving through the hamburger joint in Tempe with a dead cat on the hood of his 1968 Galaxy 500. Most of the crazy punk, ska, avant garde bands were downtown Phoenix or Tempe area.

Lots of stuff came out of Phx even though it was a bit isolated from everything except LA. Lots of connections were made between here and there. Sugarcane Willie and I lived in the same house with Frank Discussion and there were about a dozen bands of all flavors within a 5 mile radius. No one wanted to listen to no stinkin' country music.

I had a live site at phxmuzic dot com but saved most of it at http://tradesouthwest.com/phxmuzic
Lots of flyers mostly.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09663240778209525247noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1134969481939975509.post-39688269479007852972014-08-28T15:38:46.594-04:002014-08-28T15:38:46.594-04:00I knew Kurt and Lorraine from their very first gig...I knew Kurt and Lorraine from their very first gig at the On Klub. We became good friends and they stayed at my house. I really liked Kurt and am very sad to hear of his passing. We lost touch thru the years but I always wondered what happened to him and Lorraine. Thanks so much for remembering this band. Those nights at the On Klub I will never forget.--Alec Revelle--Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1134969481939975509.post-16935039837220844612011-08-08T23:03:04.534-04:002011-08-08T23:03:04.534-04:00Dave Albert here.. aka the Gilamonster or just Gil...Dave Albert here.. aka the Gilamonster or just Gila... I did a lot of recording work "on spec" with the X-Streams at my 8-track studio, two songs of which went out on 2x2 as a promotion for K-15 AM radio, which was co-produced by myself and PM John "Johnny D" Dixon. I also produced and engineered the Nervous cuts on that item. All these people were a joy to work with... and were kinda scary. We alumni are posting a lot of stuff lately (August 2011) on a FB group "Punk Rock in Phoenix" and I will surely put up something by the X-Streams that has been languishing under a rock with the Gilamonster these 30 years ...which is where we desert creatures often go to survive...Bill Pasdeauxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18078981778885482147noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1134969481939975509.post-42963746104778532002010-05-10T19:51:49.137-04:002010-05-10T19:51:49.137-04:00I was the lead guitar player in the Effects. Apparently somebody found a stash of those EP's a few years back and they were being sold at Stinkweeds. Utterly useless trivia - Luke Skood, the Effects keyboard player, plays the organ solo on the X-Streams recording of Soldering, on the EP. And Kurt Mayberry was one of the most interesting rhythm guitarists I've ever heard.

Kirk Hawley
kirkhawley@q.com
www.hellcitysongs.comKirk Hawleynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1134969481939975509.post-4802661905863956142010-01-04T16:08:20.203-05:002010-01-04T16:08:20.203-05:00I recently was given a box full of X-Streams stuff...I recently was given a box full of X-Streams stuff, belonging to my grandfather who passed away- in it was the split 7" single with The Nervous! very cool 7".
